First Marking Period is Flying

I cannot believe how quickly these first nine weeks of school have gone by! It seems like only yesterday that students were first entering the school and getting their hands dirty with clay and paint. 

I am really excited with the progress students have made so far this year, but also sad because we are to the half-way point of our time together. Rather than start to cry over it now, here are some great process pictures from Friday and today along with some finished examples. 

8th grade Environments, Spaces, and Places

Kollan is finishing up his room sculpture this week. You can see that much more detail has been added to the once empty space.

Ava adds additional value to her painting after conferencing about the overall value in the composition.

Andrew creates another shelter form for his project.

Jon uses wire and a found rock to create this imaginary landscape.

8th grade Skeleton Extension Activity

8th grade students worked on this extension activity once all other work was completed. Not only does this fit into the season, but students are currently learning about the skeleton in Health class, so this is a nice way to study.

After sketching the skeleton in four ways, students selected one to advance into a pastel drawing. Nolan is focusing on the hand.

7th grade Movie Making

7th grade students are working on movies and animations. We start by watching some videos on the topic before writing stories and scrips. From there, students work on storyboards before filming or animating.
