Today, my After School Art students were delighted to receive the box of Artist Trading Cards from a partnering school in North Carolina.

I met Nicole Kirkpatrik on a social networking site for Art Teachers and she and I arranged for our students to exchange these transportable masterpieces with each other.

This arrival prompted many "oohhhs" and "aaahhhhs" from the students, as well as the inspiration to make even more (trying to figure out how the Dunn Middle School students did theirs).

Students finished up their ATCs for the Singapore show in 2013.

The theme of the cards was journey and students used all kinds of materials to depict various aspects dealing with travel, time, and any thoughts associated with the words.

Artist Trading Cards, mostly created by After School Art Students, are on their way to Ontario Canada!

Students are participating in this international exchange with students from East Eglin Secondary School and we are excited to see what we get in return. In other good news, our Artist Trading Card project is now fully funded on DonorsChoose! Thanks to New Jersey resident, Eliot, for his support and donation that helped us reach our goal. This project will help supply students with the materials needed to keep these type of exchanges going throughout the year!

I am proud to say that I have three students whose work has been featured in April's issue of SchoolArts magazine!

Last December, we sent in Artist Trading Cards to the 5th Annual ATC competition and on page 12, you can see that Adam recieved an honorable mention!

If you click on the image and go to page 32, you can read about the Greek Scratch Art project I do with 7th grade students in conjunction with their Social Studies classes and see Jordyn and Tena's work as examples.

I am very excited to have my lesson plan and student work showcased in this magazine. I read it regularly to get new ideas for my class.

Who knows, maybe I will submit another article soon?!?!

I was very excited to find a plump package in my mailbox yesterday full of wonderful Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) from our friends at Rippowam Cisqua School in Bedford. NY!

We swapped ATCs with this school in December. To see a sample of the cards that our kids sent to NY, check them out in our online class gallery.

As students randomly chose their cards from the box, the room filled with chatter and laughter and praise for the interesting and fun creations from the East Coast!
